Surrender in Online Blackjack
Most casinos will not give you the option to surrender, but if you find one that does, you can do it only when dealt your first 2 cards, and if you don't like them you can "surrender" them, (give them up and end the hand), and receive half your wager back. You would only surrender when you don't think you have good odds to beat the dealer.
There are two types of surrender that may be on offer when the dealers up card means he may have blackjack (total 21).
Early Surrender: The player may choose to surrender before the dealer checks for a blackjack. Although rarely offered it is a good advantage to the player who gets get half his bet back when in an unfavourable situation. You are not likely to be given this option. If I ever find an online casino that offers it I will certainly add to the site.
Late Surrender: If "surrender" is offered, its commonly the late surrender option. This is when the dealer checks for blackjack first and if he doesn't have it then you get the option to surrender.
Beginning players tend to overuse the surrender option when it should only be used on a few of your worst starting hands.
